Walter Mupangwa is a farming systems agronomist with PhD in Soil Science and Agrometeorology from University of the Free State, South Africa.
At CIMMYT, he is involved in testing and integrating different climate smart practices for crop and livestock production into smallholder farming systems, as well as modelling the impact of weather elements and climate-smart agricultural practices on crop production in smallholder farming systems. He also works on testing and promoting appropriate small-scale mechanization for crop establishment, harvesting and post-harvest processing in smallholder systems.
As part of the SIMLESA project team, he backstops national partners in the implementation of agronomic trials in Ethiopia, co-designing agronomic trials, collecting and analyzing data, and producing synthesis products including scientific publications and extension materials.
