With great sadness, we share the news of the passing of Leonardo Crespo Herrera, senior scientist in the Global Wheat Program at CIMMYT. Leonardo joined CIMMYT in 2015 as a postdoctoral fellow, bringing with him an unwavering dedication to advancing wheat research for global food security. Over the next decade, his work helped shape the future of wheat breeding. As an Associate Scientist, he played a key role in leading breeding efforts, mentoring young scientists, and fostering collaboration with national and international partners.
