The Scaling Scan is a user-friendly tool to explore what is required to scale innovation in a specific context, the implications this has for project management and collaborations, and the potential trade-offs on the environment as well as social dynamics.
It is based on ten ingredients that represent the enabling environment for an innovation and have a significant impact on whether a scaling ambition can be realistically achieved.
The first version of the Scaling Scan was launched in 2017 following cooperation between scaling expert Lennart Woltering at CIMMYT and the Public Private Partnership Lab (PPPLab), a research consortium based in the Netherlands. A second, updated version was released the following year. On 14 September 2023, the 3rd edition of the Scaling Scan will be launched. With the support of GIZ, FAO, Alliance, and SNV.
CIMMYT invites you to the Official Launch of the Scaling Scan Digital Tool on September 14th at 8:00 am Mexico City time/16:00h CET time/ and 17:00h Nairobi time.
Expected outcomes of the official launch include:
- Learn about how the Scaling Scan has helped project teams identify challenges and opportunities for scaling innovations, and how you can do the same.
- Learn about the new website www.scalingscan.org and the digital versions of the rapid and standard version of the Scaling Scan which you can even try on your smartphone.
- Know how a team from FAO, GIZ, the Alliance of CIAT and Bioversity and CIMMYT developed a third edition of the Scaling Scan tool that is more responsive to gender and climate change issues, and more…
