Recarbonization of Agricultural Soils — Decarbonization of Agri-Food Systems

November 6 - November 7

CIMMYT, in collaboration with the Instituto Interamericano de Cooperación para la Agricultura (IICA) and with the support of Fideicomisos Instituidos en Relación con la Agricultura (FIRA), invites you to the Recarbonization of Agricultural Soils — Decarbonization of Agri-Food Systems forum, taking place on November 6-7, 2024, at CIMMYT headquarters in Texcoco, México. As climate change intensifies, with 2024 expected to set new records for global temperatures, this forum addresses the urgent need to transform agriculture into a key solution for mitigating its impacts. The event will explore regenerative agricultural practices, carbon capture in soils, and the decarbonization of food systems, sharing scientific evidence, policy frameworks, and successful case studies from across Latin America.

This forum will provide a roadmap for advancing soil health and climate resilience in agricultural systems, offering opportunities to engage with global experts on strategies for carbon markets and sustainable financing. With the degradation of 64% of Mexico’s soils posing a critical challenge, this dialogue aims to build frameworks and actions that ensure a sustainable, food-secure future. Join us for this pivotal event and contribute to shaping the future of agriculture and environmental stewardship.
