This course allows participants to become familiar with different aspects of innovation systems (hubs) and provides tools to foster these systems. Emphasis is given to conservation agriculture-based technologies for both irrigated and rainfed conditions: reduced tillage, soil cover by crop residue or crops and crop diversification.

Since the term climate-smart agriculture (CSA) was coined in 2010, the biannual global science conferences on CSA have emerged as the key global forum for scientific exchange to underpin CSA implementation.

The conference will bring together wheat researchers and the human health community to exchange information and discuss strategies for improving the health benefits of wheat by exploiting diverse genetic resources, modern breeding and genomics, and sustainable production and processing technologies.

The first APBA conference will discuss advances in classical breeding and application of modern breeding tools for food and nutrition security in Africa.

Participants will develop enhanced understanding on the locally adapted conservation agriculture-based sustainable intensification principles and practices, application of new tools and techniques, and how to scale appropriate conservation agriculture machinery for diverse production systems, agro-ecologies and farm typologies.
