“Innovate, Cultivate, Thrive: Advancing Agriculture with Digital Solutions”
The Digital Agriculture Forum, Nepal (Digital Ag Nepal, 2024) aims to identify and explore the gap between technology and agriculture to promote sustainable development and enhance food security in Nepal.
Event objectives
The forum will open a dialogue on advancing digital agriculture in the agricultural sector in Nepal by fostering collaboration and promoting knowledge sharing between stakeholders. There are three primary objectives of the Digital Ag Nepal, 2024:
- Showcase the global and regional innovations in digital agriculture that boost transformative growth in agricultural market systems.
- Generate research for development ideas to enhance and strengthen implementation of GoNs recently announced information technology decade 2024-34, focusing on the agricultural sector and contributing to the upcoming Nepal Digital Agriculture Strategy.
- Identify opportunities to strengthen the digital economy and actions needed to close the digital divide.
Forum structure and participation
The forum will include keynote presentations, sharing of successful ICT business practices, panel discussions involving international experts, business leaders, government agencies, presentations from Nepali Ag Tech companies, breakout groups, and formal and informal networking opportunities.
A diverse range of stakeholders will participate in the forum:
- Policymakers and government officials who are responsible for agricultural development and digital transformation initiatives.
- Researchers and academics working on innovative solutions for the agricultural sector.
- Industry experts, Ag Tech companies, and technology providers offering innovative agri-tech solutions.
- Agricultural cooperatives, agribusiness, service providers seeking to leverage digital for improved productivity and market access.
- Donors and development agencies working towards sustainable agriculture and rural development.
- Mobile Network Operators (MNOs), Internet Service Providers (ISP), and Digital Wallets.
Various opportunities for participation will be available, such as calls for presentations, poster presentations, booths, and businesses to exhibit their products and services.
The Digital Agriculture Forum, Nepal is organized by the Nepal Seed and Fertilizer Project, implemented by CIMMYT with support from the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), in partnership with Pathway Technologies & Services Pvt Ltd, Seed Innovation Pvt Ltd, and the Kathmandu Living Labs Pvt Ltd.
