The CIMMYT Global Wheat Program are delighted to welcome back in-person visitors to Campo Experimental Norman E. Borlaug (CENEB) in Ciudad Obregón in March 2023 for a Field Day, Visitor’s Week and additional career development training.
Field Day – March 21
Under the theme of next-generation wheat our field day on Tuesday, March 21 will showcase work to accelerate the breeding process, apply new breeding tools, mainstream enhanced grain quality traits and discover and integrate the traits needed for the wheat of the future. The morning session will involve field visits at CENEB to see our work in action and there will also be a chance for visitors to meet and interact with the CIMMYT scientists working to deliver our vision of accelerated global wheat improvement.
During the afternoon we will also inaugurate our renovated CENEB training facility which continues CIMMYT’s leading capacity development activities supporting the wheat scientists of tomorrow. Regional office staff will also share updates on the far-reaching impacts of CIMMYT’s wheat improvement activities and staff will give short talks on exciting areas of new research.
Visitor’s Week – March 22-24
Following the field day, visitors are encouraged to join us for Visitor’s Week (Wednesday, March 22 to Friday, March 24) to spend more time with CIMMYT staff or to visit our partners in the surrounding area.
If you are interested in attending the Field Day and/or Visitor’s Week please contact Maria Teresa Rodriguez for further details and to register your attendance. Unfortunately, financial support is not available to support visitors, so all attendees are required to meet their own travel, visa, and accommodation costs.
