The CIMMYT wheat training program was established in 1968 with the mission of training plant scientists to overcome challenges in wheat production around the world. The Advanced Wheat Improvement Course is intended to be a thoughtful review of how novel technologies such as genomic selection, selection indices, GWAS analysis and speed breeding are integrated into breeding pipelines, to increase the current genetic gain for grain yield.
This course targets mid-career scientists working in national agricultural research systems, but graduate students and other qualified candidates are also welcome to apply.
Participants will familiarize themselves with CIMMYT’s strategic objectives and breeding priorities for developing wheat cultivars. They will also review the most recent advances in agricultural plant breeding and their application in breeding programs.
Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, participants will attend the program online, so traveling to Mexico will not be necessary. The program will be conducted through webinars and virtual one-on-one sessions with CIMMYT scientists and the training coordinator.

The deadline to submit applications is July 16, 2021. Applications should be submitted through CIMMYT Academy.
