Over 500 scientists, government officials, farmers and members of the international agriculture for development community gathered in Mexico City to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the International Maize and Improvement Center (CIMMYT) at a three-day conference from September 27 to 29, 2016.
The special event was a chance to reflect on the past and discuss how the socio-environmental challenges of the future will affect agriculture research for development, smallholder farmers and crop yields.
The celebrations brought together almost a thousand delegates from Mexico and around the world, including agriculture ministers, scientists, policy makers and farmers.
