Principal Scientific Advisor to the Government of India since April 2022, also chairs the Prime Minister’s Science, Technology & Innovation Advisory Council (PM-STIAC) and is a National Science Chair Professor at IISc Bangalore. With a Doctorate in Physics from IISc, his research in Quantum materials and soft matter has led to over 450 papers and several patents. Honored with the Padma Shri and the Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Prize, he has served as President of the Indian National Science Academy and was elected Fellow of the Royal Society, UK, in 2015.
